Ok, so here's the story line. Roughly 1 year ago, an amazing woman from South Central Los Angeles decided after receiving her Master's degree to expand her horizons and venture off to London. So over the course of the next couple of years she will hope to bring two continents together through the eloquence of her words...ok that is complete and utter bullshit! Your not doing shit so just stay a minute for the hell of it!

So today the wireless was hooked up at the flat. I will have no excuses impeding more frequent blogging and consistent communication. I am so excited! My first two IM conversations were with Charlette, telling me she was at work, and Andy, who is a brit living in Houston with a Kiwi. Andy was taking the piss out of me for not having eaten traditional British meals. Okay so the names are not all that appealing...anybody interested in a Spotted Dick, or maybe some Mushy Peas, how about a little Yorkshire Pudding with a bit of Brown Sauce. Double ugh! I have tried some of these and trust me they are not all that tasty. Leanne was a lifesaver when she brought Louisiana hot sauce, A1 sauce, and Raisin Bran Crunch, back from the States. Interesting tidbit, I saw two wierd sights on the side of the rode today. I saw a lorry (truck) that was turned flat on its side in a ditch and later on a dead deer. Moving on... So the big THREE OH is coming up in the next couple of months and I am proud to say that my holiday destination will be Amsterdam. I intend to be a deviant in so many different ways. Lord forgive me for the sins I intend to commit on a daily basis over the course of 4 days. Let your goodness and mercy enlighten me once I come back from the sordid darkness that has a reddish hue. Hehehehehe.... The tickets have been purchased, but we are still attempting to work on the accomodations. Before I touch on accomodations, let me tell you how much I paid for a roundtrip ticket into a nearby city and an short train ride to Amsterdam---53 pounds= $103. Our accomodation should be roughly 60 pounds=$116 for 4 nights. I love how easy and cheap it is to travel from England. Hell, I couldn't get around the States for a hundred dollars. I sense a bit of jealousy out in the blogosphere...keep it to yourself....or come visit me.
Romantically,
Big D is supposed to be stopping by tonight.

Hello all, So yesterday was the first true snowfall England has had all winter. There was a light snowfall several weeks back, however nothing compared to the several inches that fell overnight. I kept waking up throughout the night in hopes of watching the flurries fall. It was a wintry wonderland the next morning that caused the English traffic to come to a standstill. I struggled in traffic for an hour and a half trying to get into work, which normally takes only 40 minutes. Half of the office staff were unable to make it in for various snow related reasons. The members of staff that did remain, could not help feeling drawn to the brightness of the world outside our office windows. We sat at our desks feeling gloomy as we trudged through the massive paperwork. Around 11am a one email message entered our inbox 'snowball fight in rear carpark at noon?' An energy surged through the offices as the thought that we would be able to leave our heavy caseloads behind and run amok like the schoolchildren. So at noon, I headed to my car and gathered up my gloves and scarf and prepared to go to war. This was not going to be an ordinary snowball fight this was about bragging rights. East, West and Central (the office is split up into regions) Teams were out to take each other out. I suffered many blows to my self esteem, especially while making a snowangel (my first) I was viciously attacked. Also, I was hit in the arse severely times by one of my male coworkers with a snowball. Hmmm....I wonder what he was trying to imply by aiming at my rotund bottom.

Meg, you are a nosey bugger, but here I go with your questions...What are you doing besides promising infants that they will probably not remember you, but they will be grateful a lady with a wonderful smile and a warm soft arm to snuggle into came into your life and changed it in an instant?I carry a caseload that varies from Duty, Children in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), and Look After Children (LAC). Duty happens rounghly once a week onour team. If a social worker is assigned to Duty youtake any incoming referrals and go out and conduct home visits. As well as give Advice and Information, CIN are children and families that are in need of support and resources. We connect them with resources and liase with health and education departments. We generally can pull out of these cases within 6 months. CP are the same as it is in the States. We place the CP kids and their families on a Child Protection Plan and if they do not follow it, then it may lead to them being placed in care or adopted. LAC children are in foster care and we have to conduct statutory visits every 4-6 weeks. That is my job in a nutshell. Are you an official baby snatcher?I do not like the term, but that is how I am percieved by individuals in this country. Actually more looked down upon than anything else. So ... what is going to happen when you work there for 6 months? Is that when you begin your ph.d studies? and where ?I have a 2 yr minimum contract with my job; however I just signed a 2 yr car lease. So 2 yrs from this month I will be heading back home. I am thinking about getting a 2nd Master's degree here, instead of a Phd. It takes 4 yrs and I do not think that I am up to staying that long. I have looked at universities, butI have not settled on one yet. Andreezie...you are sooo missed. I heard about the seat warmer for your bum. You need it, hell no one told to move your ass to a cold city like Denver.
