Meg, you are a nosey bugger, but here I go with your questions...
What are you doing besides promising infants that they will probably not remember you, but they will be grateful a lady with a wonderful smile and a warm soft arm to snuggle into came into your life and changed it in an instant?
I carry a caseload that varies from Duty, Children in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), and Look After Children (LAC). Duty happens rounghly once a week onour team. If a social worker is assigned to Duty youtake any incoming referrals and go out and conduct home visits. As well as give Advice and Information, CIN are children and families that are in need of support and resources. We connect them with resources and liase with health and education departments. We generally can pull out of these cases within 6 months. CP are the same as it is in the States. We place the CP kids and their families on a Child Protection Plan and if they do not follow it, then it may lead to them being placed in care or adopted. LAC children are in foster care and we have to conduct statutory visits every 4-6 weeks. That is my job in a nutshell.
Are you an official baby snatcher?
I do not like the term, but that is how I am percieved by individuals in this country. Actually more looked down upon than anything else.
So ... what is going to happen when you work there for 6 months? Is that when you begin your ph.d studies? and where ?
I have a 2 yr minimum contract with my job; however I just signed a 2 yr car lease. So 2 yrs from this month I will be heading back home. I am thinking about getting a 2nd Master's degree here, instead of a Phd. It takes 4 yrs and I do not think that I am up to staying that long. I have looked at universities, butI have not settled on one yet.
Andreezie...you are sooo missed. I heard about the seat warmer for your bum. You need it, hell no one told to move your ass to a cold city like Denver.
